These are pictures I took at our first SCA event in probably 5 years. The event was This Land is Our Land, and was hosted by Shadowed Stars (Fort Wayne, IN), which we called home from 1989-1994. This also happened to be the Spring Midrealm Tournament of Chivalry (ToC), where the knights come out onto the field and the rest of the fighters come out to fight against knights who they rarely get to see (and may not know), either choosing to fight as if for the Crown, or choosing for some more instructive sparring. This goes on most of the day. There are also fencing lists setup for those who prefer the styles, armour and such of that form of fighting. While the fighting goes on, there are also other activities for those not martially inclined, or for those who are but who are taking a break. There is dancing, eating, talking with friends, arts & sciences activities, lots of other varied activities...and merchanting. It is also a good bet that being a ToC, there is a chance of some poor, unsuspecting fighter, be they squired or not, being the subject of some member of the Chivalry "Begging a Boon" of the crown asking that they be knighted. :) While I had wanted to take many more pictures than I did (I even took my laptop so that I could download full digital cards to it when I had filled them), I was so busy trying to catch up with friends who I had not seen in nearly 5 years, and they were themselves busy as the hosting group, that I failed miserably in my attempts to get pictures of the many friends I was able to catch up with. But there is always the next event, and the one after that... ;)
